We believe that children “catch” the faith by being part of a faith community and “learn” the faith at home and at church through Christian Education. Part of this means that children are always welcome to be in worship with their families. We provide worship activity bags and encourage caregivers to help

Children’s Christian Education at Abiding Presence happens on Sunday mornings in Sunday School. Sunday School begins with “Liftoff” in the Fellowship Hall at 9:50 a.m. and includes songs, puppets, prayers and dismissal to classes. From 10:00-10:50 a.m. preschool through High School youth are in age appropriate classrooms. Adults have the chance to gather during this time in Bailey Hall for The Abiding Table. You can register for Sunday School and other children and youth opportunities here.

New this year we are launching an Infant, Toddler, and Parent class during the Sunday School hour. The class will be held in the nursery and provide opportunities for parents and their children to worship and play together. Food from the Abiding Table will be brought in, and nursery staff will also be in the room as we realize not all parents will be able to stay.

During the week, we have several opportunities for children and families to learn. Infant and preschool age children can participate with a parent/caregiver in:

During the summer, we offer a week of Vacation Bible School for kids in elementary school and offer volunteer opportunities for older kids/youth and adults.

As part of our Wednesday Night Gathering during the program (school) year, we have Circles, led by high school leaders, which provide children the chance to grow in their relationship with God and peers at church during the week.

  • Kindergarten - 5th Grade (6:45-7:15 p.m. before music rehearsals with Ms. Lori and Mr. Dave)

  • Preschool (7:20-7:50 p.m. after choir rehearsal with Ms. Lori)

Our 1-2-3 and 4-5-6 Grade youth groups also meets for special activities on a regular basis such as bowling, dinner and laser tag. We put a special emphasis on forming community so that students can have meaningful community in the church family.
