Holy Week

We enter into Holy Week and the Great Three Days confident in the promise of Easter. Join us for worship throughout this week set apart as holy and different than all the rest.

Palm/Passion Sunday, April 13
9:00 a.m. Contemporary Service (in-person)
11:00 a.m. Traditional Service (in-person & online)

Today, we encounter the paradox that defines our faith: Jesus Christ is glorified king and humiliated servant. We will wave palms in celebration as Christ comes into our midst, and we follow with trepidation as his path leads to death on the cross. We begin this Holy Week that stands at the center of the church year, anticipating the completion of God’s astounding work.

Maundy Thursday, April 17
Worship Service at 7:30 p.m. (in-person & online)

On this night, we gather with Christians around the world to celebrate the Three Days of Jesus’ death and resurrection. We remember Christ’s last meal with his disciples and his commandment that we live out the promise embodied in this meal. Departing worship in solemn silence, we anticipate the coming days.

Good Friday, April 18
12:00 noon Tenebrae Service (in-person & online)
5:45 p.m. Pizza Dinner
6:30 p.m. Children’s Service (in-person)
7:30 p.m. Tenebrae Service (in-person & online)

Life and death stand side by side as we enter into Good Friday. Jesus reveals the power and glory of God, even as he is put on trial and sentenced to death. Standing with the disciples at the foot of the cross, we pray for the whole world in the ancient bidding prayer, as Christ’s death offers life to all. We gather in solemn devotion, but always with the promise that the tree around which we assemble is indeed a tree of life.

Abiding Kids on Good Friday
Our 30-minute children’s service offers the story of Jesus’ crucifixion in an age-appropriate and interactive way. Through dialogue with puppets, scripture, prayers, music and more, we will worship together. Prior to the service, we will host a pizza dinner. We will collect free will donations to cover the cost of the pizza. Questions? Email Michaela, Children & Family Minister.

Abiding Youth on Good Friday
All 7th-12th graders are invited to join us on Good Friday for a mini lock-in. Attend worship together at 7:30 p.m., eat pizza dinner together, do a Stations of the Cross Workshop and play a game. This event serves as the Confirmation Clergy Group for April. Questions? Email Pastor Kelsey, Associate Pastor.
